About Me

Hi, I’m Dan.

I’m a software engineer with over 15 years of professional experience and a lifelong love of all things computers and electronics.

Professionally, I’ve written code in PHP, Ruby, Python, Javascript/Typescript, and Golang. I’ve designed, built, and scaled systems using technologies like MySQL, Postgresql, AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux. I have experience at several startups building products from the ground up, and I spent the last five years at Block, working on Square Loans’ custom subledger accounting system which services billions of dollars’ worth of loans and handles millions of transactions each day.

In my personal projects, I’ve also used C/C++ and embedded C/C++, Rust, Python, and even Coffeescript. I’ve made open source contributions to the popular AVRDude utility and the homebrew-avr formula. With permission from the creator, I successfully open-sourced and ported the classic shareware RPG Realmz to modern systems.

My non-computing hobbies include homebrewing, board gaming, 3D printing, and reading.

I live in the scenic Hudson Valley of New York with my wife and young daughter.
